Owen Farrell wins the Land Rover Discovery of the Season award
Land Rover as the Official Vehicle of Premiership Rugby were at the Aviva Premiership Rugby Awards at the Hilton Hotel Park Lane on Tuesday 9th May, where the rugby community gathered to celebrate what has been a fantastic season to date and to recognise the outstanding achievements that have taken place. A key part of the star-studded evening was the presentation of the prestigious Land Rover Discovery of the Season award, which goes to the best young talent in the Aviva Premiership. The award was presented by Zara Phillips and Jaguar Land Rover UK MD Jeremy Hicks to the delighted recipient, Owen Farrell of Saracens.
Owen, who has made fifty-one appearances for his club Saracens and scored 195 points in the Aviva Premiership so far this season, has earned 5 England caps making his debut against Scotland in the RBS 6 Nations this season. A busy schedule lies ahead for the talented youngster, having helped guide Saracens into the top four of the Aviva Premiership which saw them compete in a hard-fought semi-final with Leicester Tigers, this summer Owen will be a part of the England Rugby squad that will be touring South Africa in May and June.
The selection of Owen as the Land Rover Discovery of the Season was made by a distinguished panel of rugby experts, including Land Rover ambassador and Rugby World Cup winner Josh Lewsey, adding weight to Owen’s recognition as the outstanding English rugby talent of this season. Josh said, “Mentally Owen is very strong and physically he has all the attributes to make it to the top of the game and play for England for a very long time. I met him for the first time when he was 16 when his Dad was playing at the 2007 Rugby World. You couldn’t help but be impressed with him even then. I believe he could become a great player.”
