The Land Rover and Range Rover Weekly 10

The Range Rover Evoque receives more accolades and is pushed to its limits off-road, Land Rover powering a unique 10k assault course, and a Jack Wills-branded Series vehicle makes an appearance in this week’s regular round-up.

This week, we were delighted to announce that the Range Rover Evoque has won the 2011 Scottish Car of the Year award. The Evoque battled it out against tough competitors in the SUV/Crossover category such as the BMW X3, and then went on to defeat the other 11 category winners in order to have this prestigious award bestowed upon it. It is an achievement that Land Rover is very proud of.

Meanwhile, those who have been lucky enough to get their hands on the Range Rover Evoque have been putting it to the test off-road. Fifth Gear produced this fantastic video review of the Evoque, in which they get it thoroughly muddy off-road and then drive it down a steep 45 degree hill! Needless to say, the Evoque handles the treacherous hill with ease and supreme style.

As lead sponsors of Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the recent Cardiff, Nottingham and Edinburgh events. You can see the photos on our Facebook page here. In November, we’ll be heading to London, Battersea Power Station for the fourth and final Survival of the Fittest event. Taking part in this event is Team Land Rover participant Anthony Grimley, who has been documenting his unique training programme on his blog here. We wish all competitors the best of luck.

It’s great to see Land Rover drivers all getting together. Joining a local Land Rover enthusiast club is a great way to meet like-minded drivers and to partake in some on and off-road driving as a group. Chris Instone of the Shropshire Land Rover Forum has been organising regular meet ups for enthusiasts of all models from Series I’s to the latest Range Rovers and all models in between. The latest meet up involved a greenlaning trip around the Shropshire countryside. A great time was had by all as you can see from the below photo!

Finally, we want to share with you this Instagram snap of a Jack Wills-customised Series vehicle. Thanks to Hugo Purchase who spotted this unusual Series in Chichester! Have you seen any unusual Series or Land Rover vehicles out and about? Share your pictures with us on the Land Rover UK wall.
