The Land Rover and Range Rover Weekly 20
In this week’s round-up of all things Land Rover and Range Rover, the Range Rover Evoque is nominated for World Car of the Year 2012, Jaguar Land Rover is named as the number 1 brand of Her Majesty the Queen by Marketing Magazine and we feature a selection of your snowy photographs.
This week, the Range Rover Evoque was nominated for the prestigious 2012 World Car of the Year Award. A jury of sixty-six distinguished international automotive journalists selected the top ten finalists by secret ballot. The Range Rover Evoque will be going up against competitors such as the Audi Q3, BMW 3 Series and the Porsche 911. The top three finalists in the category will be announced at the Geneva International Motor Show on Tuesday March 6th.
The Range Rover Evoque continues to acquire glowing reviews across the board. This week it was the turn of GQ.com Car Correspondent David Gandy to review the newest member of the Range Rover family, describing the vehicle as ‘streets ahead of its rivals’. Gandy writes that the Range Rover Evoque ‘seems to have an answer for everything: great off-road to keep the traditionalists happy, superb on the road for driving enthusiasts’. Meanwhile, a very different Range Rover Evoque has been attracting attention on the streets of Brazil. This Range Rover Evoque wireframe has been converted into a very unique bicycle..
To celebrate Her Majesty’s accession milestone this week and with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations approaching, Marketing Magazine took a look at the Queen’s must-have brands. At the top of the list, at Number 1, was Jaguar Land Rover. It was the image of The Queen, played by Helen Mirren, behind the wheel of a Land Rover Defender at Balmoral that truly immortalised Land Rover as the Queen’s vehicle of choice. For those not in the know, The Queen was trained as a car mechanic during WWII.
