The Land Rover and Range Rover Weekly 5

Cuthbertson caterpillar conversion on a 1960 Series 2

A high altitude excursion, the world’s largest collection of Land Rovers and the Queen’s barbecue are amongst this week’s top stories.

To get things off to a flying start we are excited to share an article the Daily Telegraph posted featuring the ‘Top 10 most bizarre Land Rovers’. From a fire truck conversion to a snow plough fitting, we really enjoyed seeing these and would love to see some more. So if you have any photos of your own interesting modifications please email them to uk (dot) landrover (at) googlemail (dot) com and we will share them with the community over the coming weeks.

To shift things up a gear, we would like to make you aware of the Dunsfold Collection – the home of the largest collection of Land Rovers in the UK and possibly even the world. Started as a private collection by Brian Bashall in 1968 the legacy has been continued by his son Philip to the present day and now boasts around ninety vehicles. For further information and details of open days remember to visit their website.

There is nothing we enjoy more than hearing about your own personal encounters in our vehicles so with that being said, we would like to feature Jason H. Harper’s captivating post on businessweek.com. Jason gives a vivid recollection of his Land Rover Experience at 14,000 feet, voyaging across the rugged skyline of the San Juan Mountains in Colorado.

As we approach the finish line with this week’s top stories we can reveal that Land Rover will be at Her Majesty the Queen’s informal barbecue this summer in Balmoral, although probably not in the way you would expect… Earlier in the week the Daily Mail revealed that the food, plates and cutlery would all arrive in a giant hamper that will be towed by a Range Rover. If that’s not a royal claim to fame we don’t know what is.

One final piece of important news is that we have just launched the third and final phase of our photographic competition: Dynamic. Upload a photo you have taken that encapsulates what Dynamic means to you to be in with a chance of winning the exclusive Evoque bicycle, Olympus E-PL2 cameras and Land Rover Experience vouchers. Enter today to avoid disappointment.

And don’t forget to send your top stories to uk (dot) landrover (at) googlemail (dot) com for a chance to get featured.
