Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest – Powered by Land Rover
Over the past 2 months, more than 10,000 brave souls have competed in the Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest 10k adventure races in Cardiff, Nottingham, Edinburgh and London.
More than 5,000 of these competitors headed to the inaugural Battersea Power Station event in London on Saturday 12th November. The first ever Survival event held in London contained 16 challenging obstacles located in and around Battersea Power Station and the surrounding park. From water pools, skips filled with muck, an army assault course, parcour zone, smashed up cars, ice baths and the infamous Men’s Health wall of fame, the competitors were really put through their paces!
Team Land Rover was there to run the race and captured the action first hand for you:
After the excitement and adrenaline of the race had worn off, competitors and supporters alike were able to head to the official ‘Novemberfest’ post-race party in Battersea Power Station’s Boiler House to enjoy live music and a well deserved pint, topping off a fantastic day.
We’d like to congratulate the overall winner of the race, Dave Henderson, who managed to complete the 10k course in a very impressive 38:25. We’d also like to applaud all of our Team Land Rover competitors who made us well and truly proud. Special mentions go out to the following Team Land Rover Survivors:
Anthony Grimley – who fastidiously tracked his training progress on his blog and who finished the race in an impressive 59 minutes 06 seconds. Read his blog post here for an account of the day.
Ross Middleton – a formidable triathlon runner who once completed the UK Iron Man in 12 hours and 45 minutes. Ross finished in around 48 minutes. You can read his account of the day on his running blog.
Oliver Kew – last but not least, automotive enthusiast Ollie thought that he was a spectator at the event. Imagine his surprise when he found out he was competing! Check out his coverage of the event over on Gridlock Magazine.
